Innersection: A new era of surf film

Let me start by saying this; if you don't like high performance surfing, or watching guys do lots or airs, then stop here. Don't even bother with this video, as you'll probably write it off as another typical surf porn flick. And in some ways it's hard not to argue with that. What makes Innersection unique however is how the movie was made, and the movie's flow, or lack thereof. Each section in the video, is filmed and edited by a different person, usually selected by the surfer featured in the video. While this doesn't make for a neat, flowing style movie, it does make it amazingly diverse and interesting. Not only do you immediately notice differences in surfing style, but filming and editing style as well. Each section is unique and different. Mesh that together with carefully thought out song choice, and BAM! Innersection.

The movie was created over the period of four "seasons" where surfer's and their filmmakers entered their sections to be voted on by the web and surf savvy public. 5 people from each season got through, plus 5 wild-cards. The project was the brainchild of Taylor Steele, which made the competition pretty stiff. There's some very well known names in there (Slater, Parko, etc) and a handful of very unknowns, who absolutely rip. My personal favorites include Peter Devries, Nate Tyler, Marco Giorgi, and Brenno Dorrington. Also, it's nice to see some cold water sections getting thrown into the mix for once to keep things different.

So if you like Taylor Steele's movies, you'll like this one for sure, because as always, they push the levels of performance. If you don't, well you might like this one anyway!
